Spring has Arrived!

Crisp, fresh and dry
So here are three crisp fresh dry white wines to lift the mood still further at this the most optimistic time of the year snd just to be a bit different, they are all German.
While we love their engineering excellence and efficiency, some of the wine exported to the UK has been traditionally unexciting off-dry Riesling, Piesporter and Liebfraumilch.
The truth is we don't generally see the best German wines as they keep them to themselves. So here are 3 great wines and for good measure the labels prove that Germans make great stuff and really do have a sense of humour!
Well done Henning and Jurgen which make all of these great to drink with friends or to gift.
First up is a Sauvignon Blanc Not your NZ fleshy Marlborough style, but flinty, taut and elegant as good as the very best cool climate Loire- delicious and at less than 12% ABV containing fewer calories.
Next is a dry Riesling bursting with zesty citrus and apple fruits that really surprised and impressed us. Fun fact is it was chosen as the pit wine for the German Grand Prix Poor drivers having to circle it for 2 hours till the race was over and they could enjoy a taste.
Grauburgunder (Germans love a long wine word) is Pinot Grigio/ Gris by another name. Don't be fooled into expecting some bland white wine would get in a chain pub. This is a serious white is a serious white wine. This one whispers aromas of floral and stone fruits which make it great to open and share over a light, Springtime lunch.
So which will you try?

Loved this one at home - even better near Vineyard where it's produced...
